TIPS FOR BEFORE THE SNOW FALLS

Winter is fast approaching. It would be wise for you to undertake a few verifications of your immovable before the icy cold weather is upon us, and carry out any necessary repairs, if needed. It's simply more comfortable to work when the mercury indicates 10°C. The feeling isn't quite the same when the thermometer plummets below O°C. Amongst the prudent inspections to be done, it's important to carefully look over the garage doors, as well as the outdoor water faucets. The pipes of the latter should be emptied and the water inlet turned off right after.

In addition, it's important to close the water basins, for example, the swimming pool, which requires calling upon professionals in this area. As well, the door weather-strips should be checked and changed if needed, failing which the cold air will come blasting into the building and the units. The outdoor drains on the roofs and in the parking lots should be cleared of any and all debris that might be blocking them. If this isn't done, they'll likely freeze over.

Meanwhile, going over the caulking that seals the immovable's envelope is likewise indispensable. Over time, and from one season to the next, the caulking expands and contracts, expands and contracts… It thus can crack; in which case it has to be replaced. In addition, the mechanical systems on the roof, notably the exhaust motors and the auxiliary air systems must be gone over with a fine toothcomb. These are only a few of the examples of essential inspections that should be done. There are also several others. Vigilance must be the watchword. The complete inspection of the immovable's equipment and services is strongly recommended, because the protection of each and every co-owner's investment is what's at stake.
